The difference in red & blue US flag is primarily in perception. Of course we know the red and blue are based on politics that have been purposely put on the flag. Also, that colors evoke moods. However, is there more to this? The blue in the flag is evoked by light having a spectrum dominated by energy with a wavelength of roughly 440–490 nm. It has been said to be an additive primary colors. The red is evoked by light consisting predominantly of the longest wavelengths of light which is roughly 625–740 nm.
Could it be possibly that the colors red and blue in the flag are more eye drawing considering the colors are on opposite ends of one another.
